What does interculturalism mean and imply – in theory, in practice, and politically? The 7th Global Conference of the non-profit network Inter-Disciplinary.Net will target this question with a focus on identity, its construction and reconstruction. Readers of this blog may be particularly interested in themes related to globalization, governance implications of border-crossing identities, and/or struggles over resources.

The conference will take place on March 18 to 20, 2014, in Prague, Czech Republic. Organizers ask for applications until October 11, 2013.

In a similar vein, an excursion to the 19th Southwest English Symposium could be interesting for young scholars working on topics which involve “different kinds of mixing, mutating, and collaborating“, or: hybridity. It is scheduled two weeks earlier, February 28 to March 1, 2014, at the Arizona State University, Tempe, USA. The Department of English organizes the event.

The deadline for the 250-500 word applications for sessions, panels, and/or roundtables is December 1, 2013. It should be send to: swes.asu@gmail.com.
